Dear Visitor, Welcome to Collide-O-Scope Edutainment's main office. I apologize for the state of my desk--a lot of ideas to sort through...Anyway, take a look around, check out what's new here, get previews of what's coming, and keep in touch! We'd love to hear from you. You can look through the desk drawers for all the information you need. I would suggest that you open up the Company and Mission drawer first, and get aquainted with the company. Have fun!-Kevin

About
In the next few paragraphs, you will read about why we do what we do and how you can contribute to this cause. First, we will explain why we emphasize edutainment, a category which is hard to define and even harder to apply in most settings.<><><> Why Edutainment? We know how hard it can be to be motivated to do schoolwork (or to motivate the child to do schoolwork), but we also know how big an impact edutainment can have--especially on a child's mind. We aim to create games that, when played, help the child to learn important lessons in school subjects (math, english, science, etc.) and in life-application subjects (sharing, taking turns, being respectful, etc.). I, Kevin Elliott, have noticed that, through my years of education, games have had the longest lasting impact on me. I am quite a video game junky (or at least, I used to be--life has picked up its pace, recently), so I enjoy playing video games as often as possible. I recall a video game for the old Windows OS (that's operating system), called Treehouse, that was full of educational elements and had a huge impact on my life. As I grew up, the games available for purchase became less and less educational, and more and more violent and secular. One day it hit me that if I learned how to make video games (or board games, card games, or any game, really), but made them as educational as Treehouse (or more so), the next generation could be twice as prepared for life as my generation was/is. Thus, the idea of an edutainment company was born. I emphasized video game development for a few years, working to learn how to put everything together. In one of my college courses, I learned about Hnefatafl (basically, Viking Chess--which we will soon be selling), searched for other Viking games, and found Kubb. We played both, loved them, and then realized what we can do as a part of the edutainment wave with what we have now. Reivers was soon inspired by Kubb and we've been receiving inspirations since then for new games. Games have the potential to be one of the best teaching tools available, so we decided that we wanted to utilize this fact and make a difference for this and future generations. If we can make games so that when they are played, the players are having a great time but don't realize they're actually learning (until the subject comes up in school and they SOMEHOW know the answer), that would be amazing and very helpful to the many students who find it difficult to want to learn. Learning usually has a negative connotation as it means studying, testing, going to school in the early morning, etc. One of our main goals is to help students overcome this stereotype by playing games that help them learn while they have fun. Someday we may be able to finish the dream of developing video games (I had several really good ideas I wanted to finish), but for now, we will emphasize family games, card games, board games, and mind games that inspire, educate, and strengthen faith--all while they're having fun.<><><>A business of the people, by the people, and for the people! As you're reading this, we are developing dozens of new game and activity ideas to add to our family of products and services. This is a growing business, and with anything that grows, it needs nurturing, time, support, and plenty of fuel. Here's the great thing about this business: It's about you, for you, and bascially run by you. Consumers today (especially with the economic difficulties) are very picky about what they purchase--with great emphasis on world-impact and influence on themselves and their families. They know what they want, but they can't always find it. I recall my moment of realization of purpose (some people call it an "AHA" moment). It was in a Wal-Mart and a young boy was looking through the video game options. I was looking at PC games across the aisle, so I overheard his mother ask if there was anything educational. With his reply of "No," they left to search another store. With such a huge market for video games, but such a small range of genres and such a large number of violent games, more parents want wholesome, educational games (as opposed to mindless violence). This is when I knew I wanted to get into video game development. I tried many routes and have had experience in many areas in video game development, but nothing had come to fruition. Then we played Kubb and my attitude changed. Hand-crafted, high-quality games that teach and strengthen were my new mission--easier and faster to produce than video games, AND they encourage children to get up and move around. Video games hold great potential for growth, education, and physical development (especially with the creation of the NintendoWii), but the current options for games are still far from where they should be. Anyway, this realization of needing educational games means I need to push these ideas and multiply the options available to parents and children alike. I am but one man. My mind can only stretch so far. I can only research and design so many games. I am not BUYING the games, I am making them. Something's missing here. I need to know EXACTLY what people are looking for so we can successfully create games that people want and need. I can design and create until the cows come home, but if these games aren't what people are looking for, how does this help? THEREFORE, we need YOUR help. If you are looking for a specific type of game that isn't already on the market or wish for more games on a subject generally untouched, please let us know--we want to serve you in your edutainment needs as fully as possible. Send us an e-mail with your request and we will do what we can to meet your needs. In this way, our business is partially developed by you, the consumer. We like that idea and we're always open to suggestions and ideas. COSEGames stands ready to serve you as faith, education, and fun collide!

Ludus Latruncolorum
The Walls of Jericho
An ancient Roman game resurrected, Ludus Latrunculorum (The Game of Stones/The Game of Little Soldiers) is a fun strategy game for two players. Roman soldiers used to play this game while on break. Fantastic history, great strategy, fun gameplay, and now magnetic pieces! Why aren't you playing this?Magnetic board is kid-safe, but pieces are choking hazards for very young children...uh...small pieces, so duh... :-DLudus Latrunculorum: $30
Based on Scottish and English Border Reiver history (feuding clans) and named after the Reivers' horses (a breed which is now extinct), this small board game is a great two-player strategy game. Note: IT'S NOT THE PEG-JUMPING GAME!!! :-D It's a triangle and it has pegs, but that's where the similaries end. The player who captures the most corners after two turns wins the game!Galloway Nags: $15
Based on the Biblical account in the book of Joshua, this game provides a cooperative environment for a new Bible-trivia experience. Players are enouraged to dig back into the Word of God and work together to get their army around the walls to win the game. The rules are pretty well set, but players can adapt rules as the need arises to help their group's experience run more smoothly. Great for families, youth groups, et cetera, and is good for players aged eight years and up.The Walls of Jericho: $30

<><><> July 31, 2011Long time, no see...I know...sorry. I've been working on some new ideas, establishing new connections, and working with TheGameCrafter through their upgrading process. They are upgrading their online features, their card dyes (soon to be more accurate in cutting the cards), their boards (more professional), their game parts, their store functioning, and...well, basically everything. In this transition, I have to re-upload a few files, re-do some of the artwork, and reconfigure some settings...AND re-do the links in the catalog. SO, for the time being, those TheGameCrafter links in the catalog are not valid. I will let you know when all of this is ready to go again. You may want to wait until Fall to order those games because the products will be better when the new pieces are put into place sometime (they estimate) between the end of Summer and beginning of Fall). So if you haven't ordered a game like The Walls of Jericho, you may want to hold off a little longer so that you can gain access to better boards, better cards, and better everything overall. Better things are coming--don't lose faith in us. We need your support if we're to move forward. The handmade games (even more to come when we finalize designs and figure out better resource suppliers) are still for sale--there's no complication with those. We will be taking Reivers and Galloway Nags to a few festivals this Fall, so keep an eye out for updates on those.Better things are coming! Hang in there! As always, we appreciate ANY feedback you can offer. We'd love to hear from you! Thank you for your time, interest, and support!<><><>August 29, 2011For this year and next year, of whatever we sell, 10%-20% of the profits will be going to the Blood:Water Mission, an organization that seeks to supply more Africans with healthy water sources that are closer to home (not 30 miles out as it currently stands for most of them). By buying our games, you're also helping to save lives.OR, if you just want to donate, visit: http://www.bloodwatermission.com/communitybuilder/If you purchase a game, donate, or do both, on behalf of all here at COSE, Thank You!We will have a few new games ready to purchase before Christmas and the previous ones all set up and ready to purchase before October (some are up and ready to go now: Tribe + expansions, Fishers of Men, Carousel, and Reaction Time).<><><>September 25th, 2011We will be attending Thisle and Pine (www.thistleandpine.com)and we will be selling Galloway Nags and Reivers. The Game Crafter is backed up with orders, so we won't be able to sell any card games this time. We will provide demos for Reivers, Galloway Nags, and a few ancient games we will be recreating and selling soon. This is their 5th year running, so there will be much more going on this year. Come on out and have some fun! Play Reivers, learn Gaelic, watch awesome dancing, listen to amazing music, and check out their Celtic store. Hope to see you there! We will also be attending the second day of the Aaronsburg, PA festival this weekend (Oct 2) and offer the same products and demos.<><><>October 22nd, 2011I'm finishing up my most recent project: Ephesus. Once the rules are set in place, I will be getting those printed and ready for purchase. I'm also working on moving Tribe, Fishers of Men, Reaction Time, and The Walls of Jericho over to better packaging. I hope to have these five games all set before mid-November so there's still enough time to order them for Christmas. TheGameCrafter games are still available now, but the packaging is not where I want it to be--if this doesn't matter (the box will probably get pretty beat up anyway), they're available for purchase today at TheGameCrafter.com (just do a search for the games).<><><>December 31, 2011On this final day of 2011, I take a look back at the year and how this company grew. This year, we upgraded the website, found a new printer with additional printing options that we needed, introduced several new games, and attended many more festivals than we have in the past, reaching further into the heart of Pennsylvania, where my soul is at ease. We received a lot of positive feedback and we send out a huge THANK YOU to those who have taken interest in, supported, and purchased from this company. We are growing and we will have many new options available in 2012--and again I want to stress: if there's a type of game you want, but can't find it, let us know and we'll see what we can do.Because of your support, we were able to donate $30 to the Blood: Water Mission this year! While it may not seem like much, even $30 can go a long way. B:W M will be our charity for 2012 as well.Use these final hours of 2011 to reflect on how you have changed this year, and start setting goals for improvements in 2012. Have a Happy New Year, everyone!.

June 15, 2010We have found suitable wood suppliers so we are now designing and building carrying cases and assembling sets. In a month or two, we will have enough supplies available to start customization and distribution. We are also developing several new yard game ideas and board game ideas. Bear with us and pray for us--we're getting there, but we've still got plenty of work ahead of us. Please continue to check back for updates!<><><>September 25, 2010As we create games made of wood, we realize how many trees must fall. That's why we have chosen Plant-It 2020 as one of our primary organizations for end-of-year donations. At the end of the year (kind of like a Christmas present) we will donate 20% of our profit (that is, money that goes beyond the breaking-even point) to Plant-It 2020, which is an organization that plants trees and donates eco-friendly, fuel-efficient stoves all over the world (if you have a specific place in mind where you would like to have tress replanted, let us know). It only costs 1 dollar per tree! This means, the more games we sell, the more trees we can replant (we are working to develop more card games and board games--which means less wood being used). We use about one tree (2 8-foot 4x4s) for about 5 sets of Reivers. If a Reivers set sells for $25 and we sell those 5, that would be $125. We would use approximately $10 of wood for a set (based on what we spent to get the wood and the fact we use less than half of one 8-foot board per set). This means a proft of $75, which translates to $15 to Plant-It 2020. This means that we can replant over 15 trees per tree that we cut. Now, if we sell more than 5 sets, imagine the difference that would make for people around the world. Add in the profit from Carousel and other card and board games and we see that the reforestation more than covers the loss of trees for the games we make. It's a very good thing. We are also looking into the option of recycled wood (wood from old buildings that would otherwise be destroyed or stuck in a landfill). If we can find some good, afforable sources of recycled wood, that means we can help plant trees without having to cut any more down.If you have any thoughts on this or know of any other non-profit organizations of this type, or if you know a recycled lumber source with a good price, please let us know. We're still growing, so we'll take any tips or constructive criticism you can provide.<><><>December 23, 2010We received a call today from a lady looking for a game we do not provide (yet). I had never heard of the game, but she was very interested in finding a copy. Here at Collide-O-Scope Edutainment, we want to SERVE YOU. We do not just want to keep coming out with stuff WE want to make. We want to hear from you so we know how to grow this business to serve your edutainment needs. We can provide three main services to all interested parties if they simply ask: You can Request a game for us to make (if it meets our standards, it is very likely that we can do it), we can help you Find current manufacturers of the games we are not selling/cannot sell, and we can help you Make games you think up (we have resources, links, and materials to help you get started). Please let us know how we can serve you. <><><>December 23, 2010In the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, it is easy to forget why we buy the gifts, why we decorate, why we send cards, why we sing carols, and why we even say "Merry Christmas!" We get so wrapped up in the moment of materialism that we forget to remember the reason for the season. Through Collide-O-Scope Edutainment, we create games, but these games will not last--nothing will last. It will all turn back to dust. When we die, nothing we have purchased, made, sung, or been given will go with us. A little over two thousand years ago, a gift was given that would not rust, rot or be stolen, though it was eventually broken and drained of energy more precious than battery power. What remote control car, barbie doll, puzzle, helicopter, army dude, snowboard, or video game knew its destiny before they could walk? Which would grow up to teach people how to love, share, give, and serve? Which would heal the sick, give sight to the blind, give hearing to the deaf, help the crippled walk again, and give hope to those who had lost of theirs? Which of those toys provided the means for all of us to be forgiven for the terrible things we have done in our lives? Which of those toys grants eternal life? Which would willingly DIE on a stinkin' CROSS because of the love they had for every single human being on the face of the Earth? My Christmas present can turn water into wine. Can yours?I urge you to remember the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ, the savior of the world, this Christmas. Celebrate Jesus' birthday in a new way this year--a way that demonstrates Jesus' love for others and willingness to serve. Read the accounts of Jesus' birth in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke (especially the detailed account in Luke). After this, read the accounts of His death, resurrection, and ascension in each of the four Gospels. Reflect on His life, then reflect on yours. Remember the reason for the season--we must never forget it. In spite of all those who wish to put an end to Christian practices in America (or any country), I want you all to have a wonderful, safe, and a very, very MERRY CHRISTMAS! :-D <><><>December 31, 2010The new year is upon us! (What on Earth happened to 2010?!) It's time to starting making goals to reach in 2011. Time to lose weight? Time to find that perfect job? Time to find that perfect someone? Time to buy a new house? It's time for anything you want to accomplish. Tonight, make a list of goals for 2011 that are within reason. Don't say you'll lose one-hundred pounds and get rich--that's not as likely to happen as making new friends, finding new opportunities for activities, etc. Set reasonable goals you can accomplish within a few months (otherwise you may forget them by Summer). After you have your list: Step 2: Pray over the list and ask God to help you meet these goals in the new year. Remember that God loves us and wants the best for us--if it is in His Will for us and we ask for it (He won't act unless we ask--that whole free will thing--or unless it's absolutely necessary), then it will more than likely take place (don't forget that you've got to do some work towards it, too). So, make a list and pray over it, then start living in such a way that you can reach those goals. As for us here at Collide-O-Scope Edutainment, our business goals are to expand our catalog, get to more festivals in PA, and try to reach out to more people with edutainment needs that we can fulfill. We have a ton of new games planned, so please be patient with us and keep checking back. The next game should be out before the end of February (and it's a good one), so please keep an eye out for more games from us. So, here's to new opportunities, second chances, new friends, new adventures, and the new year! *chink* ...and sure, Mrs. Robinson.<><><>December 31, 2010Several games were purchased in the past few months, which has allowed us to contribute $23 to the Plant-It 2020 organization. Thanks to your purchases, we have paid for ten trees to be planted in New York and one fuel-efficient cooking stove to a family who needs it in Haiti.Thank you all--in just a few months, you've made a big difference. Let's see if we can do it again next year. We may or may not use the same organization (if you have any charity suggestions, let us know), but that will be decided at a later time. <><><>
